My father was a complex man. A deep thinker. A straight talker. Creative and restless. Fiercely loyal and charming. His opinions about life were simple yet he felt very deeply the injustice and unfairness in the world.
An avid reader, he told me about stories he would have liked to write if only his "chubby little fingers" would allow him to type fast enough. He had great ideas and an even greater sense of humour. He supported my work, and was a true inspiration, living long enough to see me published for the first time.
In monetary terms, he wasn't a wealthy man, but he was wealthy in spirit.
He loved a good hot dog, a baseball game, Humphrey Bogart and Dunkin' Donuts™, where he regulary met with his pals to "right all the wrongs in the world." He took no crap from anyone and taught me to do the same, but the most important thing he taught me was this.
You have to know in your heart that in all things, you have done the best you could.
